PlyScaf
PlyScaf is manufactured under the United States Patent number 5,244,057 by PlyScaf Inc. The name PlyScaf is also a Trademark name. We have built and sold thousands of units and are proud to report we have never had a failure.
PlyScaf is designed to sit on an 8” masonry wall, but it is also engineered to sit on a 2x4 or a 2x6 wood frame wall. The instructions for mounting the PlyScaf on a wood frame wall are on the PlyScaf unit or you can go to our website www.PlyScaf.org for an instructional video. PlyScaf can be used on a building up to 3 stories high. PlyScaf also meets and exceeds O.S.H.A. standards for strength and safety. When the PlyScaf is installed according to the instructions it is virtually impossible for there to be a failure as the whole house would have to be destroyed for it to fall. When tested in a controlled environment the PlyScaf met and exceeded O.S.H.A. requirements.

According to the Builders Estimators Reference Book by Frank R. Walker, a laborer will spend 6 and 1/2 hours helping a carpenter apply sheathing to a 1000 sq. ft. roof area. If the roof area is 3000 sq. ft. an employer would have to pay a laborer 19 and 1/2 man hours. By using PlyScaf the need for a laborer to carry and stack material is eliminated, resulting in the following payroll savings to the employer. (See chart above)
PlyScaf eliminates the need for a laborer to carry plywood. If a laborer is being paid $18.00 per hour and it takes the laborer 19.5 man hours to carry plywood on a 3000 sq. ft. roof, a PlyScaf actually pays for itself on the first house it is used on because it eliminates the need for a laborer. The plywood is at the same height as the installer and it actually increases the productivity of the carpenter as he is able to apply more sheathing.

The founder of PlyScaf is Thomas Renno. Tom began doing carpenter work out of high school and worked with his father-in-law. Shortly thereafter, he began a framing business and after a few years, Tom achieved his certified builder license and has been framing and building homes for over 30 years, building 2 or 3 a year. Tom could have created more crews and built dozens more homes annually, but wanted to be a part of each project, hands- on, engaged with the home owner. His quality over quantity speaks directly to who he is as a person.
Tom developed and engineered PlyScaf, merely to help with his own building business, but after having received the patent, Tom marketed and has been selling to framers and builders for over 20 years.
